It will enable us to solidify our market leadership in Slovenia, scale our operations in Romania and Hungary, continue to roll out innovative services, and attract top talent to our growing team to become the digital consumer lending champion in the Central & Eastern European region.

LEANPAY I.F.N. S.A. (Leanpay Romania) is a non-banking financial institution (IFN), licensed by the NBR, with our headquarters in Bucharest, Costache Negri 1-5 Street, Opera Center, 4th floor.

Currently, the Leanpay Romania team needs reinforcement – we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic team player to join our company at the position of Collections Specialist.

A person in that position will be responsible for implementation and execution of different non performing asset workout strategies. One of the main tasks of our new colleague would include managing and optimizing the full collection process, including strategy development, partner coordination, compliance, reporting, and execution of portfolio sales—aiming to boost recovery rates, efficiency, and regulatory alignment.

What will the Collections Specialist be doing?

  • Develop and implement collection strategies to increase efficiency, reduce recovery periods, improve success rates, and lower collection costs
  • Manage partnerships with external collection agencies and service providers
  • Organize, structure and manage sales process of non performing loan portfolio to investors or assets managers
  • Contribute to continuous improving of collection strategies and processes
  • Oversee the collection process with external funding partners
  • Lead and execute all internal aspects of the collection process
  • Prepare and present proposals and initiatives for improving collection processes
  • Set targets and monitor the performance of external collection partners
  • Ensure that all collection activities are conducted in compliance with applicable local laws and regulatory requirements governing debt recovery
  • Manage and coordinate technical integrations with collection partners
  • Collaborate with the accounting team on collection-related accounting issues
  • Prepare and deliver reports on collection activities and portfolio performance to internal management and external partners
  • Resolve disputes and customer complaints related to collection practices
  • Independently manage both daily collection operations and more complex tasks (e.g., NPL portfolio sales, RFP processes)

What will the successful candidate have?

  • 3+ years of experience in NPL portfolio management or collections (preferably in banks, consumer lending companies, NPL asset managers, or collection agencies)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage operational and strategic collection activities
  • Strong understanding of the consumer loan lifecycle, collection practices, and relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience in developing and optimizing collection processes and flows
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and lead technical integrations
  • Experience preparing for and executing portfolio sales and handling buyer due diligence
  • High level of attention to compliance, efficiency, and performance tracking
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with legal, accounting, and funding partners
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
