Leanpay wins Future of Finance Award at UNCHAIN Festival 2026 as its Romanian business accelerates

Leanpay, the BNPL and consumer lending provider operating in Slovenia and Romania, has received the Future of Finance Award at UNCHAIN Festival 2026, Central and Eastern Europe’s benchmark finance industry gathering. The award comes as Leanpay’s Romanian operation enters its strongest phase since entering the market.

Romania has moved into a new chapter under refreshed leadership. Dragoș Popescu has taken on the role of Country Manager, heading a renewed senior leadership team assembled to scale the business. The team has grown across its core functions, with sales among the fastest-expanding areas, and further hiring is underway.
Leanpay is also expanding its offerings for Romanian consumers and retailers. The company is bringing new products to the market, including credit insurance and general-purpose loans (GPL), extending beyond point-of-sale instalments toward a fuller consumer finance proposition. In parallel, it continues to sign new merchant partners and move into additional retail verticals.
